Gourmet Grilling Demo Highlighting Cape Cod’s Own

Join Gallery Gourmet for our famous gourmet grilling demonstration. Our resident grill-master will be grilling gourmet style using foods from many local food purveyors. Visitors will enjoy wonderful samplings that will also show them how to create and enhance food with local ingredients. Lobster Tales

Wet Harvest Bog Tour

Growers will showcase the beautiful cranberry bogs. After the tour (departs 11:00 sharp), return to the market where gifts, lunch and ice cream are available for purchase. Guests must provide their own transportation; dress for wet conditions and bring your camera!

 

Woods Hole Village

5:00 Starting with appetizers at Quicks Hole (www.quicksholewickedfresh.com), Chef MacKenzie Zadroga is preparing your choice of six Vineyard/Chatham oysters or a local salad with greens from Coonamessett Farm.

6:00 A short walk across the street, Chef Roscoe of the Landfall Restaurant (www.woodshole.com/landfall) will prepare your catch from your earlier fishing experience. If you weren’t able to participate, you’ll still get to experience the local sea, dining on delicious broiled bluefish, striped bass or Chatham cod (subject to local availability) and Coonamessett Farm potatoes accompanied with cold slaw.

Goat Walk

Ocean Song Farm, and farmers Jen Holloman and Jason Beetz invite you to walk with goats through the fields and trails of Mass Audubon’s Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary in Cummaquid. Enjoy a farm tour and learn all about chicken tractors, grass fed lambs and rotational grazing while taking in the splendor of this wonderful unique and diverse, wildlife sanctuary. The walk is limited to 20 participants so please arrive early to find out about this unique pairing of wildlife and domestic agriculture. It is great fun for all ages. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Wear suitable shoes and weather-appropriate attire. We will all convene at the visitor's center and take a farm tour then proceed with the goat walk from there.

Oyster Farm Tour and Tasting

Visit an oyster grant and learn how oysters are grown, then harvest a 1/2 dozen of your own oysters and bring them back to The Oyster Company where you will learn how to shuck them like a pro. Taste three wines that are matched to your oysters. Knife and gloves are provided for you to keep. Wear waterproof shoes and shorts. You'll be walking the flats.

Explore the abundant wild medicine and food plants that are here on the Cape – including some familiar plants few know how delicious they are!  Seeing, touching, smelling and tasting plants first hand is the time-honored way to begin to know and use them. Emphasis will be on late summer plants, but you will discuss and identify plants that can be harvested in other seasons as well. Learn to identify, harvest, and incorporate wild roots, greens, flowers and fruits into meals and home remedies for health and vitality. Informational handouts will be offered.
