What is CLASH? Where is CLASH?

CLASH is a weekend long celebration of the rich fishing heritage and abundant local foods of Cape Cod. 2008 will mark the third year of this popular and growing event.

 

Thursday, September 25

Kick-off Reception

Participating restaurants and caterers will offer highlights from the seasonal local-foods menus that will be offered at their restaurants during CLASH. 

When: 6-8 p.m.

Friday, September 26

Educational Sessions and Local Foods Showcase
We invite you to come learn how to become more self-sufficient in terms of growing, raising or producing your own food -- and creating a more sustainable kitchen. Enjoy these mini seminars, then taste a variety of food and beverages from local artisans.

When: Presentations: 1-3:30 p.m.; Showcase: 3:30-5 p.m.

Where: Behind the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, 135 South Street, Hyannis

Cost: $10. for the whole day (come for part or all)

 

Saturday, September 27

Tours, Tastings & More

More than 30 local farms, bogs, wineries, fish piers and other food-related businesses are hosting activities, such as harvesting your own sweet potatoes, pumpkins and other fall vegetables; watching the day boats unload their catch at the fish pier in Chatham and apple cider being made in Falmouth; touring a cranberry bog; learning how beer is made, how to rake your own quahogs and start greens for a winter harvest; or participating in a grape harvest at a winery.

When & Where: All day Saturday - please see schedule of times and locations. Most events are free or a nominal cost.

 

Sunday, September 28

Season Finale Farmers Market

Don't miss the last opportunity of the season to purchase locally harvested produce, flowers and herbs, baked goods, honey, beeswax candles, and even lobster -- directly from the producer. Live music will fill the air and there will be activities for the whole family including a puppet show and face painting. A complimentary shuttle service will be running between downtown parking areas and the waterfront all day.

When: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Where: On the waterfront at Aselton Park in Hyannis

(next door to the Cape Cod Maritime Museum)

8th Annual Cape Cod Oyster Festival

Next door from the Farmers Market at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, feast on raw, fried, baked, roasted and stewed oysters prepared by local restaurants, and sample wines from the best vineyards in the world. Proceeds benefit the Cape & Islands United Way.

When: 1 - 4 p.m.

Where: Behind the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, 135 South Street, Hyannis
